Why Stevia?
Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni is a perennial plant native to South America. This plant has been used for centuries both as medicine and as a sweetener in foods. After harvesting, the leaves of the Stevia plant are dried, and steviol glycosides are extracted from the leaves. These Steviol glycosides are natural and calorie-free sweeteners. The physiological safety of steviol glycosides has been investigated in numerous metabolic studies by the joint FAO/WHO committee, JECFA (Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives). No harmful effects or accumulation in the human body have been detected. Steviol glycosides are fully digested in the human body. Studies have shown that steviol glycosides are not carcinogenic, do not cause hereditary changes, and have no effect on fertility.
